Frequently Asked Questions:
Q - What if I've made a mistake during registration?
A - You can change your own details in the members
area. You can detach from schools and add other schools. If
you entered the wrong year, then click the year and re-enter
it.
Q - Why can't I find my school?
A - Make sure you have registered first, then use the simple
search facility. When searching for your school, only use
the first 5 or 6 letters and do not use generic words like
"School or College". While 15,000 schools are already
listed, if yours is not, then you can add the details yourself,
which we will verify overnight.
Q - What information do I need to add my school to
the database?
A - The address is a must, but you could also include an e-mail
address, telephone number and a hyperlink to the school's
website - where and if applicable.
Q- Who else can see my details and contact me?
A - Only other registered members attached to your school.
If you detach yourself from your school then no other members
can contact you but you can still use the site.
Q- What does the Message Board section do?
A - You can enter the name of a lost friend with a "common
thread" - your name and contact details will then be
attached and visible to all other members viewing the message
board.
Q- What if I went to several schools?
A - It is possible to attach yourself at up to 5 UK schools,
just repeat the initial process and add another school if
necessary. Don't forget to detail which year you left each
school in.
Q - How do you know which school I went to?
A - It is your responsibility to select and attach yourself
to your school(s) complete with a leaving date. We do not
check this information with your school but expect ex-pupils
to "police" their own members. If someone is registered
against your school you know should not be, then e-mail lorraine@lostschoolfriends.net
with the details and they will be removed from the site.
Q - Why is there no one listed on my school?
A - Make sure you have joined the school yourself, in the
members section. Failure to attach yourself to your school
means you will NOT be found by anyone! If no one else is listed
please be patient and more will appear as more people register.
Q - What if I still need help?
A - Please e-mail lorraine@lostschoolfriends.net
